How it was Made

This was quite the project! I don't remember how long it took me to make the cosplay, but it took a while. It was the second cosplay I have ever made myself AND my first time working with Spandex!

Materials

-Wet look Spandex (four-way stretch)

-Rubber corks (for the plugs on the back)

-Black boots

-Contact Cement (keep plugs on the back)

-Zipper-

Wig

-Catsuit from eBay (used for pattern)

-Polypropylene straps

-Square metal rings

-Buckles

-Chest device made by Heine Props

I started this cosplay by purchasing a cheap catsuit from eBay. I love to base my own patterns off of pre-existing clothes, mainly because it is easy to make alterations, ensure that it fits, and it is cheaper than going out and buying patterns. I got blue/purple wetlook Spandex to create the suit out of. I did a lot of research on her suit and decided that I wanted something that would be blue. In the image above her suit definitely looks blue, but in other images it tends to look a little purple.

I got my fabric from SpandexHouse, but when I ordered more of the same fabric it was the same exact dark blue navy that my monitor shows, but the original fabric was a lighter blue/purple color. After a long process of dealing with their customer service and deciding to never buy from them again due to being hassled around so much, I wound up just getting the same exact fabric back from them and using it. In the end I'm ok with it because it has a nice purple hue to it.I decided to create my own pattern by using a catsuit I purchased on eBay. The suit was like $17 after shipping. It took me a while to seam rip it apart and cut out the patterns for the different sections of her suit. I wound up re-making the stripes of blue on her legs so they are longer and actually sewn into the pants rather than on them.

The gloves were a trial and error because I made about eight pair of gloves. I wanted them to be skin tight and I kept putting the colors (blue on top black on bottom) on the wrong sides. The cuffs were just patterned out by hand and sewn. Since the spandex is four-way stretch everything is extremely comfortable.

The suit is four parts:-Body -Pants-Gloves-BootsThe plugs on the back of the suit are made of rubber stoppers and hand painted by my friend Niko Pii  because I didn't have time to do it. She is the best for helping me out with the plugs and helping me finish sew the old straps! I forget what size I got, but my boyfriend cut them for me and my friend Heine contact cemented them to my back. I had to wear the suit while he did that in order to have the fabric stretch out so they didn't fall off. If you do this method make sure you put some thick fabric like pleather underneath the suit so you don't contact cement the suit to your skin...that would be extremely painful!

I looked up boot cover tutorials online and found a ton. I just cut off the tops of black boots I got on eBay and created a boot cover by molding the fabric to my leg. The fabric is contact cemented to the boot at the toe and around the edges as well.

The chest device is made by my close friend Heine Props. The only details that I left out are the white/silver lines on the suit and the hexagons. The only ones painted on are the ones on the back with the plugs. I left the lines out because I don't personally like how they look. As for the hexagons...I honestly couldn't be hassled to do that. Plus they are not even very noticeable in the game. I also left out a few details on the boots in the back, but again this was only the second cosplay I ever made so I left out some things for the sake of time. I would add these details on now, but I would rather move on and continue to make new cosplays.

The straps are made of Polypropylene from Strapworks.com. I used camel at first but decided to use grey for the second ones because I think they look better, and again sometimes they look brown and sometimes grey. I added in the square rings and buckles in the appropriate places. To hold the Skorpions (which I got on eBay) I created holsters for them by using velcro to keep them closed. The go around the guns where the triggers are to keep them from moving around while I walk. The wig is from EpicCosplay.com and I styled it myself. I would maybe like to touch it up a bit, but who knows haha.
